This is a three day class which will cover mixing of paints and gaining control of the airbrush. No matter what it is you want, airbrush control is key in every application. You will learn how to operate and maintain the brush, learn about materials used in airbrushing: cleaning tools, compressor and accessories, hardware tools, paint and accessories, drawing & transferring stencils. Jeff will show you how to set up your work space, clean your airbrush, troubleshoot problems, review variables that affect spray, proper methods of drawing and transferring images onto surfaces, and how to develop good airbrushing painting habits. A compressor is provided for student use. The Paasche VL (double-action) airbrush is recommended for those students buying an airbrush for class, other brands are welcomed. Instructor: Well known Hawaii airbrush artist and illustrator, Jeff Pagay has been teaching airbrush classes at Hawaiian Graphics since 1992. A self-taught artist, Jeff has become proficient in his use of acrylic & oil paints, and airbrushing. He began his professional art career creating t-shirts for tourists. Learn how to paint landscapes and seascapes with the palette knife using oils on canvas. Topics to be covered include: knife strokes, composition, natural color mixing, value and chroma. Learning those basic concepts will help you to add depth to your paintings, establish a focus of interest and create drama-using highlights. This is a beginning class open to anyone who enjoys painting and wants to expand their abilities. Instructor: A lifelong native of Hawaii, George Eguchi shares and innate love for his island home through his artwork. He is and artist of contrasts; humble and reserved, he has chosen a bold and divert painting style, using oils applied with a single palette knife. | 
| Watercolor Classes with Helen Iaea Saturdays, 9:30 a.m.—12:30 p.m. January 9 - February 27, 2010 Fee: $180 per (8) weeks, plus supplies Contact: Helen (808) 225-0711 for more information This is an on going class that begins approximately every eight weeks. Each session concentrates on an important element: color, value, design, as well as the overall qualities of creating a good painting. Basics of controlling the medium of watercolor are taught as warm-ups. Demonstrations and personal help are an essential part of each class. Instructor: Helen Iaea a signature member of the Hawaii Watercolor Society, has served as its president and since 1990 has assisted with their workshop program. Her works are included in the collection of the State Foundation on Culture and the Arts, Aloha Airlines, and many others. She has won numerous awards, including “Best in Show” and the Winsor Newton Award. She was featured in the Yearbook 2001 issue of the Watercolor Magic magazine article “Ones to Watch”.
